Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
At least 1 year of experience working in a heavy industrial setting, such as steel mill, paper mill, manufacturing, mining, or like environment
Advanced knowledge of tools and equipment used for industrial purposes, to include cranes, fork trucks, heavy machinery, and hand and power tools
Basic math and reading comprehension skills
Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Ability to work within a fast-paced environment
Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot problems

Nice To Haves

Previous experience working in steel manufacturing preferred
Certification in operation of heavy machinery such as fork truck, crane, etc. desired
Desire to share knowledge and skills with less experienced team members

Responsibilities

Operate and monitor steelmaking equipment to include Ladle Metallurgy Furnace (LMF), and RH degasser
Monitor position and condition of ladle during RH/LMF operations
Collaborate with Furnace operator to control and maintain temperature of molten metal coming from furnaces
Use computerized controls to monitor rate of circulation of steel in vessels
Take temperature and material sample of molten steel
Add alloys according to chemistry specs
