About The Position

Maryland Environmental Service is hiring an Operator-In-Training or experienced Operator at the Freedom Wastewater Treatment Plant in Sykesville, Maryland. The OIT apprenticeship is a three-year program that includes on-the-job training, independent study, and professional in-house mentoring and coaching. The starting salary for an OIT is $41,736.24, with periodic pay increases during the apprenticeship based on established benchmarks and job performance. Successful program graduates will be offered Operator positions with MES.

The estimated pay range is $41,745.60–$79,781.52. The position is open until filled. Employment offers are contingent on successfully completing required pre-employment screening, including a full background check, drug and alcohol screening, and a position-appropriate physical. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; MES does not sponsor work visas.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Driver’s license with fewer than five points.
• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
• Successfully complete required pre-employment screening, including a full background check, drug and alcohol screening, and a position-appropriate physical.
