About The Position

Pregis is seeking an Operator III to join their Mailer Production department. This role involves overseeing hourly employees to ensure the production of high-quality products at the lowest possible cost, meeting company standards, customer specifications, and delivery requirements. The Operator III must have the technical ability to operate all types of converting and finishing equipment within Pregis standards for waste, quality, and productivity, specifically for the EAM product line. They will understand and adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures, set up and operate special functions with minimal supervision, and train other employees. This role also requires analyzing issues, determining and implementing solutions, and providing innovative ideas for improvements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • 5-7 years of progressive responsibility and/or related experience
  • Ability to take coaching well and communicate respectfully with others
  • Knowledgeable of safety requirements and guidelines in manufacturing/warehouse environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, follow standardized work instructions and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement culture

Responsibilities

  • Consistently demonstrates leadership qualities and uses leadership skills to direct crews in the efficient operation of the company’s production equipment.
  • Reads and understands all information on job tickets pertaining to a specific job and ensures all necessary components are present, not moving forward on any job with conflicting information.
  • Fully understands how to achieve print quality and die-cutting equipment register to produce a product that consistently matches established quality parameters.
  • Achieves acceptable registration within specified M/R standards.
  • Has complete understanding and ability to operate all line ancillary equipment.
  • Effectively sets up and operates all inline equipment (i.e., gluing, labeling, die units etc.) and understands how to properly shim dies and perf plates as required.
  • Effectively sets up fan fold units from one size to the next to required specs with minimal supervision.
  • Capable of installing Flexo plates and setting Flexo print cylinders for optimal print and manufacturing life.
  • Performs minor mechanical repairs and adjustments.
  • Strives to maintain 100% of standard KPI for productivity, waste, and quality standards.
  • Accurately enters all codes for quantities, materials, and times onto required paperwork.
  • Understands and demonstrates ability to accurately track line counts.
  • Performs necessary functions to operate the line with minimal supervision.
  • Establishes and promotes an environment for learning and process improvement.
  • Consistently looks for ways to improve processes and efficiencies to reduce waste and increase production within quality standards set.
  • Works within all safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
  • Ensures the maintenance of departmental housekeeping standards.
  • Ensures compliance with all safety and work rules and regulations.
  • Interacts well between shifts to gain and pass along all information to facilitate a smooth transition without interruption.
