About The Position

Under the direction of the Production Supervisor and/or Operations Manager, the Operator II - Bindery sets up, operates, and maintains bindery and finishing equipment to produce high-quality printed products while meeting customer specifications, production schedules, and company performance standards. The role supports the finishing process by transforming printed materials into completed products such as books, catalogs, manuals, directories, magazines, and mail pieces. The position is based in Elgin, Illinois, and offers a day shift from 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM or a night shift from 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM on a rotating 2-2-3 schedule. Pay starts at $24.00 per hour.

Requirements

Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Experience operating bindery, finishing, printing, mailing, or manufacturing equipment.
Strong attention to detail, quality, and safety.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods.
Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
Ability to read and follow work instructions and production specifications.

Nice To Haves

Experience operating and setting up production equipment such as folders, stitchers, cutters, collators, drills, or binding equipment.
Experience leading or coordinating production activities.
High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

Set up, operate, adjust, and troubleshoot bindery and finishing equipment.
Complete machine setups and changeovers to support production needs.
Produce finished printed products while meeting quality standards.
Monitor equipment performance and make adjustments to maintain production goals.
Identify and resolve equipment or production issues to minimize downtime.
Maintain accurate production records and counts.
Lead and support team members to ensure safe and efficient operations.
Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe.
Support continuous improvement efforts focused on safety, quality, and efficiency.
Perform other duties as assigned.
