About The Position

This is a full-time, hourly position. The Operator I is responsible for properly operating and maintaining all processing equipment to ensure it is working to its fullest potential and produce the desired quality and quantity of end product. The mill person monitors the product being processed and sets equipment for maximum processing efficiency. This role involves performing a complete clean-down of equipment, including the removal of all seed from the previous variety when changing varieties to be processed, and potentially mill screen removal. Cleaning duties depend on the plant’s processing schedule and may involve reaching overhead and below the knee, lifting, rotating, and twisting motions. Employees are expected to perform machine maintenance daily, which may include reaching below, at, or above shoulder level, and using ladders up to approximately 24 feet. Maintenance duties also require rotating and twisting motions. The role follows the scheduled mill order to keep all processing equipment operating at peak efficiency. Accurate processing reports, including weights, box numbers, cull weights, dates, grading, and lot numbers, must be completed. Quality analysis is performed constantly to ensure desired standards, with records kept on processing documents and management advised of any potential problems. Processed products are prepared for storage, which includes tagging, forklift safety, stacking boxes, and staging product for processing. Final product packaging involves hanging, sewing, or stacking bags ranging from 25 to 110 pounds. This operation requires employees to remove bags from a conveyor belt, transfer them to adjacent pallets, lift the bags, turn, and place them on the pallet. Employees start with loading bags on pallets approximately 4 inches from the ground and stack them up to four feet high. Transferring or restacking of pallets may also be required. Daily housekeeping, including sweeping and cleanup, is essential. Active participation in ADM-EBSI safety and Quality Assurance programs, including safety meetings and audits, is expected. Regular use of Powered Industrial Trucks, including Forklifts, Skid steer loaders, and wheel loaders, is required.
