About The Position

Under the direction of the Department Supervisor, this role oversees and ensures the production of the highest quality products at the lowest possible cost, while meeting company standards for quality and performance, customer specifications, and delivery requirements, in accordance with EverTec policies and procedures. The position requires the technical ability to operate all types of converting lines and finishing equipment within Pregis standards for waste, quality, and productivity. The operator must understand and adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures, set up and operate all special functions and capabilities with minimal supervision or direction, and train other employees when requested or required. This role also involves analyzing issues, determining and implementing solutions, and providing innovative/creative solutions for opportunities and improvements.

Requirements

  • Technical ability to operate all types of converting lines and finishing equipment within Pregis standards for waste, quality, and productivity.
  • Understanding and adherence to all Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Ability to set up and operate all special functions and capabilities with minimal supervision or direction.
  • Ability to train other employees when requested or required.
  • Ability to analyze issues, determine, and implement solutions.
  • Ability to provide innovative/creative solutions for opportunities and improvements.
  • Understanding operation of Label applicators and hotmelt system.
  • Ability to read and understand all information on job tickets.
  • Fully understand how to achieve print quality, register, and die cutting equipment.
  • Complete understanding and ability to operate all line ancillary equipment.
  • Ability to effectively set up and operate all inline equipment (i.e., gluing, labeling, die units etc.).
  • Understanding the basics of setting up fan fold unit to required specs with minimal supervision.
  • Capable of installing Flexo plates and setting Flexo print cylinders for optimal print and manufacturing life.
  • Ability to perform minor mechanical repairs and adjustments.
  • Accurate entry of all codes for quantities and consumed materials onto required paperwork.
  • Ability to accurately track line counts.
  • Ability to take coaching well and communicate respectfully with others.
  • Promoting positive teamwork culture.
  • Ability to be present to effectively and respectfully communicate with team members during shift transition.
  • Knowledgeable of safety requirements and guidelines in manufacturing/warehouse environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, follow standardized work instructions and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement culture.
  • Frequent standing, stooping, sitting.
  • Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling (up to 50 lbs.).
  • Occasional typing/keyboarding.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • 5-7 years of progressive responsibility and/or related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain consumables during machine production run times at established KPIs, including all adhesives, paper, and labels.
  • Understand the operation of Label applicators and hotmelt systems.
  • Read and understand all information on job tickets pertaining to a specific job and ensure all necessary components are present.
  • Achieve acceptable print quality, register, and die cutting within specified M/R standards.
  • Set up and operate all line ancillary equipment and inline equipment (e.g., gluing, labeling, die units).
  • Install Flexo plates and set Flexo print cylinders for optimal print and manufacturing life.
  • Perform minor mechanical repairs and adjustments.
  • Strive to maintain 100% of standard KPIs for productivity, waste, and quality standards.
  • Accurately enter all codes for quantities and consumed materials onto required paperwork.
  • Accurately track line counts.
  • Perform necessary functions to operate the line with minimal supervision.
  • Establish and promote an environment for learning and process improvement.
  • Consistently look for ways to improve processes and efficiencies to reduce waste and increase production within set quality standards.
  • Work within all safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment and ensure departmental housekeeping standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and work rules and regulations.
  • Interact well between shifts to gain and pass along all information to facilitate a smooth transition without interruption.
