About The Position

The VW-Operator I role is responsible for the operation and monitoring of equipment in a water or wastewater plant, site, or facility. This role ensures the efficient and safe processing, treatment, and purification of water to meet customer and regulatory specifications. The role supports the overall mission of the organization by maintaining high standards of quality and reliability in daily plant activities. Individuals in this position are expected to learn and independently operate assigned equipment while contributing to a team-oriented environment.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Must demonstrate a working ability to use computer programs for process control.
  • Must have the ability to read, write and comprehend English (operational, process, safety and quality instructions).
  • Must have the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test and a criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Some experience in a related position and environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor water and wastewater treatment equipment, including pumps, engines, centrifuges, generators, and related systems.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot equipment such as valves, gates, mixers, conveyors, blowers, dryers, chemical feed, odor control, disinfection equipment, sludge processing filters, and belt presses.
  • Perform routine testing and process control to ensure water quality meets required standards.
  • Record and interpret operational data, making adjustments as needed to optimize plant performance.
  • Follow all safety, environmental, and quality protocols in daily operations.
  • Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively to support plant goals.
  • Participate in training and demonstrate the ability to learn new equipment and processes.
  • Serve in the site.
  • Serve rotational 24 hour emergency on-call if required by site.
