About The Position

The M GT MOLOKAI Department of the M GENERATION Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has 1 Bargaining Unit vacancy available. (Role: NON-EXEMPT) JOB FUNCTION: Trains to perform the duties of Chief Operator; performs additional duties as assigned; performs general maintenance as assigned.

Requirements

Ability to identify and distinguish the difference between colors, including shades, hues, and tints. (for electrician related positions)
Must have or be able to qualify for a State of Hawaii driver’s license. Must meet the standards for driving positions stated in the Hiring Standards for Driving Positions policy. These standards may be adjusted periodically to meet business and safety objectives.
Must pass the Edison Electric Institute Plant Operator Selection System (POSS).
Note: Employees who have taken and passed the Differential Aptitude Test (DAT) do not need to take the POSS.
Must pass the Job Sample Test.

Responsibilities

Works a shift with a Chief Operator and trains to perform the duties of the Chief Operator classification. (Refer to Chief Operator job description.)
Stands day watch as assigned. Under this condition performs the following duties; collects diesel engine water samples and add chemicals, receives fuel oil and witnesses delivery; cleans oil purifiers and performs greasing duties.
Performs in relief capacity as Chief Operator when qualified.
When not standing watch, is assigned operational maintenance work at the diesel plant, provides assistance to Diesel Maintenance Mechanic and Maintenance Electrician.
Keeps equipment and work area clean.
Inspects, receives, and stores incoming materials and supplies from vendors.
Maintains watch until relieved.
Performs janitorial and grounds maintenance as required.
Performs similar and incidental duties as required.
Assume an emergency management role, as assigned, and perform specific assignments or functions, as needed, in an event of an emergency, not to include routine trouble calls/callouts.
