About The Position

In an hourly capacity, transport equipment and supplies using tractor trailer and accessories. Operate roadway maintenance equipment; perform preventive maintenance; and perform manual labor tasks during routine and emergency response operations.

Requirements

• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor.
• Ability to provide customer service and interact with a diverse customer base.
• Ability to read and follow oral and written instructions.
• Knowledge of safety procedures related to fuel handling and delivery.
• Possession of CDL and DOT medical card and ability to maintain thereafter.
• Must comply with DOT and VDOT policies and standards when operating CDL equipment.
• Safety shoes required.
• Skill in the operation of multiple axle truck and trailer combinations.
• Skill in the use of hand and power tools.

Nice To Haves

• A combination of training, experience, or education in Vehicle Operations, or related field desired.
• Experience operating tractor trailers for fuel deliveries or low-boy for moving equipment and supplies.
• Knowledge of highway maintenance equipment, materials, methods and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and make deliveries to field locations and equipment shops.
• Communicate with stakeholders to determine most effective delivery method.
• Operate a tractor trailer combination or wrecker truck for transporting various materials, automobiles and equipment.
• Load and unload trucks.
• Complete and maintain all required documentation regarding movement of equipment and supplies.
• Perform manual labor and other maintenance tasks as needed for project completion.
• Complete assigned work as instructed in established time frames.
• Perform miscellaneous duties around work area when not delivering or picking up equipment and supplies.
• Perform maintenance repair, replacement and preventative maintenance.
• Complete pre-trip inspections for any vehicle or equipment operated.
