Operate one or several types of power construction equipment (i.e. compact loader, skid steer, indoor forklift, riding compactor, etc.); to excavate, move and/or grade material. This role involves performing light maintenance duties such as cleaning, greasing and oiling machines, documenting maintenance logs, and performing daily inspections of equipment. The operator will coordinate machine actions with other activities, load and move dirt, rocks, equipment, or other materials, and check fuel supplies. They will also drive and maneuver equipment to distribute and level earth or terrain, calculate slopes and grades, and understand trenching and excavating requirements and regulations. Safety is paramount, requiring the operator to avoid potential hazards, locate underground services, understand Red Tag procedures, and follow load capacity charts. Participation in safety processes, pre-job planning, and hazard identification is expected. The role also includes providing on-the-job training to helpers and laborers, producing quality work, and accurately filling out equipment and maintenance records.
