About The Position

The Operator Apprentice is an entry-level role for self-motivated individuals, with the expectation that they will advance into progressively skilled positions. The position supports production by maintaining safe and clean work areas, cleaning industrial equipment and workstations, and relieving production positions while operating light and heavy industrial machinery. Assignments may vary from day to day. The successful candidate will follow mill safety policies and procedures and contribute to a team-focused culture. The role requires working rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays, and performing physical tasks in outdoor conditions and loud, high-volume environments.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to work outdoors in all temperatures and in loud, high-volume environments while performing physical tasks throughout the shift.
• Ability to walk, stand, sit, climb stairs, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds as required for the essential functions of the position.
• Ability to perform all tasks in accordance with West Fraser safety policies and procedures.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, holidays, and weekends.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment background check, drug screen test, and physical is contingent on an offer of employment.

Nice To Haves

• At least six months of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safe work areas.
• Collect debris and dispose of sawdust and dropped lumber in assigned areas.
• Clean industrial equipment and workstations.
• Relieve production positions and operate various light and heavy industrial machinery.
• Perform varied job assignments that may change daily.
• Follow mill safety policies and procedures at all times.
• Communicate effectively with team members and support the team culture.
