About The Position

The Operator Apprentice is an entry-level position for self-motivated individuals expected to advance into progressively skilled positions. The role supports mill production by maintaining safe and clean work areas, cleaning equipment and workstations, relieving production positions, and operating light and heavy industrial machinery. Employees must be flexible as assignments may vary daily and must consistently follow mill safety policies and procedures.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Ability to work outdoors in all temperatures and in loud, high-volume environments while performing physical tasks throughout the shift.
Ability to perform essential job functions, including walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
Ability to perform all tasks in accordance with West Fraser safety policies and procedures.
Ability to recognize and support the team culture and communicate effectively with all team members.
Ability to work rotating shifts, holidays, and weekends.
Successful completion of a pre-employment background check, drug screen test, and physical is required for employment.

Nice To Haves

At least six months of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

Maintain safe work areas, collect debris, and dispose of sawdust and dropped lumber in assigned areas.
Clean industrial equipment and workstations.
Relieve production positions and operate various light and heavy industrial machinery.
Perform varied job assignments that may change daily.
Adhere to mill safety policies and procedures at all times.
