About The Position

This role exemplifies Amcor Behaviors and Values, leading by example with professionalism. The Operator 1 will work in a professional manner with other associates, maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area, and inspect product to ensure quality, setting aside any product below quality standards. This position requires close collaboration with Leads, alerting the Team Leader or Supervisor of any quality issues or reject conditions with timely response. The Operator 1 must also notify the Team Leader of any safety, machinery, raw material, quality, preventive maintenance, emergency maintenance, packaging, or documentation concerns. Responsibilities include correctly documenting information on production reports and downtime, completing product assembly by installing gaskets in lids and handles in containers, and flaming containers and lids when required. The role involves stacking and packing product per customer and order instructions, preparing proper product identification and/or packaging labels, and performing housekeeping within the assigned machine's working area. Additionally, the Operator 1 will assist with training associates as needed and perform various other assigned duties. When machine production is interrupted, the Operator 1 will utilize time for cleanup, sweeping, mopping, making boxes, or other tasks assigned by the Shift Supervisor.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Regularly required to stand for long periods; use hands to finger, handle, or feel, objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms.
  • Good hand-eye coordination is required.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent exposure to production floor; required use of PPE including but not limited to: Bump Cap, Safety Eyewear or Prescription Safety Eyewear, Safety Shoes, Hair/beard nets, Hearing Protection and Disposable Mask.
  • Must be able to frequently lift, bend, and reach to perform necessary job functions.
  • Must be able to keep-up with the fast-paced production cycles.
  • Position requires agility and consistent attention to detail.
  • Able to tolerate constant repetition.
  • Must be able to identify alpha / numeric product codes.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holiday and over-time.
  • Frequently works near moving mechanical parts.
  • Good communication skills--verbal and written; ability to effectively communicate.
  • Ability to work well independently or in a team environment; displaying ability to work and deliver results in a fast-paced, performance driven environment.
