About The Position

The Youth Apprentice role encompasses a variety of responsibilities aimed at maintaining production efficiency and quality standards while ensuring personal safety and adhering to company policies. Key duties include performing quality checks to meet customer specifications, packaging labels for shipment, and constructing lifts for processing from printed sheets to customer requirements. The apprentice is expected to operate manual and automatic equipment, such as shrink wrappers and auxiliary machinery, and transport materials using powered hand trucks. A strong focus is placed on achieving and exceeding production goals, maintaining accurate production records, and assisting in the training and mentoring of Label Line Associates. Cross-training opportunities are available, and apprentices are encouraged to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Effective communication, basic math, and computer skills are essential, along with the ability to inspect printed sheets for customer satisfaction and maintain a safe, organized work area.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains or exceeds standards to ensure production goals are achieved.
  • Inspects labels to ensure label sizes and customer specifications are achieved.
  • Performs equipment set up and operation; Operates manual and automatic shrink wrapper; changes tape and rolls of shrink-wrap, operates and adjusts all auxiliary equipment based on job information.
  • Prepares cartons for packaging labels.
  • Reviews and follows customer packaging specifications.
  • Transports material using powered hand trucks.
  • Maintains production records.
  • Cross training will be expected.
  • Sets up and operates jogging, squishing, banding and auxiliary equipment based on job information.
  • Maintains quality of jogged lifts.
  • Inspects sheets to ensure quality standards are maintained.
  • Aerates sheets using hand, wrist and shoulder movements to fan air between sheets.
  • Transports production material using pallet jacks.
