About The Position

The Trainer is responsible for delivering consistent, high-impact operational and leadership training across the Fat Bastard Burrito system. This role partners closely with franchisees, restaurant leadership, District Managers, Operations leadership, and Support Centre teams to build capability, strengthen execution, and ensure alignment to brand standards. The Trainer acts as a subject matter expert (SME) in restaurant operations, food safety, and leadership development, supporting both frontline teams and management in achieving operational excellence. Through hands-on training, coaching, workshops, and field support, this role plays a key part in driving performance improvement, successful new store openings, and a consistent guest experience across the system.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in restaurant operations, training, or a similar role within the QSR industry.
  • Experience in Fat Bastard Burrito FOH/BOH Operations is considered a strong asset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences across all levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to coach, train, and develop others in a restaurant or multi-unit environment.
  • Strong computer proficiency with the ability to quickly learn and effectively use systems, including Microsoft Office Suite, learning management systems (LMS), and restaurant operational technologies.
  • Valid driver’s licence with access to a reliable vehicle, and ability to travel extensively within the assigned region, including overnight and multi-day travel as required.
  • Adhere to all policies and plans through communication, action, and consistent enforcement.
  • Effectively and efficiently perform all job functions following policy and leading by example.
  • Stays up to date on all training as required and follows all health and safety, and sanitation policies enforcing with disciplinary action as needed.
  • Actively participates in positive and constructive communication across all departments.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct hands-on training across all core restaurant operations, including product preparation, food safety, equipment use, guest experience, and sanitation standards.
  • Reinforce operational procedures, brand standards, and quality expectations.
  • Assist with onboarding, retraining, and franchisee training requests based on performance or operational needs.
  • Partner with Operations leadership to identify performance improvement opportunities through operational metrics and assessments.
  • Develop targeted coaching plans based on food safety, guest feedback, sales performance, productivity, and cost controls.
  • Contribute to operational improvement initiatives including restaurant turnarounds, ownership transitions, management changes, and recalibration visits.
  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate classroom-style and in-restaurant learning experiences that support leadership growth and operational excellence.
  • Deliver programs such as Leadership Development, Certified Manager, Culinary Leader, Train-the-Trainer, Food Safety, Guest Experience, and operational change initiatives.
  • Support the ongoing development and continuous improvement of workshop content and training materials.
  • Facilitate Certified Manager and Culinary Leader programs, including assessments and certification decisions.
  • Validate learning outcomes and maintain certification records.
  • Coach leaders on communication, accountability, team leadership, and operational execution.
  • Contribute to all phases of New Store Openings, including training execution, scheduling, readiness, and franchisee onboarding.
  • Organize trainer deployment, logistics, and certification requirements for NSO teams.
  • Deliver operational and leadership training for opening teams.
  • Assist franchisees with onboarding and team preparedness.
  • Identify and support certification of NSO trainers.
  • Ensure trainers meet Certified Manager and/or Culinary Leader requirements.
  • Provide on-site coaching and operational support to management and crew during the critical post-opening period.
  • Monitor adherence to brand standards, operating procedures, food safety, and customer service expectations.
  • Conduct skills validation and ongoing training for managers and employees.
  • Identify operational gaps and implement corrective action plans to improve execution and consistency.
  • Support management with shift leadership, scheduling, inventory management, and labor controls.
  • Review key performance indicators, including sales, service times, product quality, and guest feedback.
  • Ensure all training materials, certifications, and onboarding requirements are completed and maintained.
  • Provide regular feedback and recommendations to franchisees and store management to support long-term success.
  • Coordinate follow-up visits and remote support to ensure sustained operational excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Provide targeted coaching and operational support to underperforming restaurants.
  • Diagnose root causes, implement improvement plans, and monitor progress.
  • Collaborate with Operations leadership and franchisees to drive sustained improvement.
  • Assist with operations in corporate restaurants when not engaged in training assignments, including shift coverage and labour support.
  • Participate in testing and validation of new products, equipment, procedures, and system rollouts.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams on operational initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
  • Deliver onboarding and recalibration training for District Managers.
  • Provide restaurant immersion experiences for Support Centre employees.
  • Support leadership development initiatives across the business.
  • Maintain training documentation, certification records, and learner progress tracking.
  • Complete training reports, visit summaries, and expense submissions.
  • Manage training schedules and participate in Training Team meetings.
  • Support development and maintenance of training materials and programs.
