This role assists in the operation of plant equipment, including starting and stopping pumps and auxiliary equipment, checking lubrication and cooling on various machinery, and recording operational data. The position involves inspecting equipment for faulty operations and assisting in maintenance tasks for mechanical and electrical equipment. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, maintaining, calibrating, and repairing electrical, instrumentation, and control systems, as well as operating and monitoring equipment to optimize unit performance. The trainee will perform operating, regulating, and adjusting duties to maintain proper output of generating units, manage water flows, pressures, temperatures, draft conditions, and fuel consumption. They will also maintain operational/training logs, assist in the operation of turbine/generator equipment including synchronization, and potentially assist with switchyard circuit breakers and disconnects. Adjustments to maintain generator voltages and unit power factor are also part of the role. This position ensures compliance with all local, State, and Federal regulations and plant procedures, maintaining a safe work environment and contributing to operating procedures for consistent and safe operations.
