Reimagine What’s Possible Air Products is seeking an experienced Operations Technician III to join its team at the Reidsville, NC facility. The Operations Technician III mainly ensures the safe and efficient daily operation and oversight of several processes in a cryogenic air separation plant that produces liquid and gaseous nitrogen, oxygen, and argon. Key responsibilities include plant operations, cryogenic tanker loading support, and product quality assurance. Additionally, the role supports the daily operation of a bulk hydrogen transfill system, transferring gaseous hydrogen from liquid tankers to tube trailers.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications is required.

Nice To Haves

  • A certificate in Process Technology or a maintenance-related area is preferred, or at least three years of experience in manufacturing, production, processing, or a chemical/petrochemical setting.
  • Candidates involved in SkillsUSA are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical competence preferred.
  • Demonstrated dedication to safety and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to participate in a rotating 24-hour on-call schedule.
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Experience with plant/refinery instrumentation and electrical systems is preferred.
  • Military experience is a plus.
  • This role aligns well with backgrounds such as Machinist's Mate or equivalent experience, Electrician's Mate or equivalent experience, Damage Controlman, Engineman, Electronics Technician, and Gas Turbine Systems Technician.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day operation of the plant to support production, reliability, and on-stream targets.
  • Maintain plant operations and assist with mechanical repairs, instrument calibration, and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Ensure accurate execution by maintaining close attention to detail and performing work to the highest standards while embracing a continuous improvement approach.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of minor and major shutdowns, providing technical and hands-on support as needed.
  • Follow, update, and maintain operating procedures to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Coordinate trailer loading activities and assist drivers as required.
  • Promote and uphold all safety rules, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Support other regional facilities as needed.
