About The Position

This role is responsible for team leadership, projects, and resources within an operations area that includes more than one area of specialization or performs a centralized function. The Team Leader will develop and manage the direction and daily activities of operations resources, focusing on people, organization, and process. This includes the S&OP process to support the manufacturing/processing cycle and ensure timely logistical processing of the product. The position is responsible for embracing and driving Lean Enterprise Systems throughout the value stream.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree
  • Demonstrated experience with formal or informal team or project leadership
  • High level of mechanical aptitude
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
  • 4 or more years in a manufacturing environment
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident of the United States and provide evidence of citizenship or immigration status.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a Technical Field
  • Hands-on experience in the implementation of lean techniques including value stream mapping, 5S+Safety, single piece flow, and standard work.
  • Strong understanding of quality systems.
  • Strong data collection and analysis capability.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct the work of a team of approximately 30-40 direct reports and distribute workload appropriately.
  • Develop leadership expertise and experience by conducting performance evaluations, providing coaching, counseling, and disciplinary measures as needed, maintaining accurate time and attendance records, and developing high-performing teams through coaching on continuous improvement, problem-solving, and respect for people.
  • Perform time studies, capacity analysis, layout/product flow analyses, and standardized work.
  • Participate in professional leadership development through one-on-one instruction, guided reading/lessons, and formal classroom instruction.
  • Drive the team to meet and exceed team metrics of safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Work with value stream partners to maximize both internal and external customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain and report out on key value stream metrics.
  • Work closely with fellow Operations Leaders to create a unified manufacturing team that supports overall business objectives.
  • Work with team members to identify continuous improvement opportunities and constantly identify and eliminate waste in assigned departments.
  • Support Lean Kaizen events to identify cost and time savings.
  • Perform capacity analysis using build plans, determine staffing requirements for the assigned production area, and develop unified plans that support robust training centered on safety and quality practices.
  • Develop and deploy standardized work instructions for assigned department(s) and ensure process stability through following standardized work.
  • Promote and enforce compliance of safety policies and procedures, conduct safety investigations and audits, and address safety non-compliance.
