About The Position

Develops, coordinates, and monitors work assignments of associates related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost in the assigned area to meet production goals. Maintains and increases production output while increasing productivity using Lean Manufacturing techniques. Documents, tracks, and communicates SQDC goals in daily production/management meetings.

Requirements

  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have experience with SYTELINE to track orders and research specifications prior to production.
  • Computer, shop math, and blueprint reading skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, product print drawings, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Regularly required to walk and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Use Kewaunee’s scheduling system paperwork to identify the parts and/or assemblies required to fill customer orders.
  • Maintains any parts and supplies related to their area of responsibility.
  • Receives and answers questions from associates pertaining to production processes or equipment operation.
  • Monitors and expedites flow of materials within production area plus works closely with production planning/scheduling on shortage issues.
  • Works closely with Production Control, Purchasing, and Project Management to expedite parts, sub-assemblies, and compound within the department.
  • Notifies maintenance personnel of equipment malfunctions via paperwork order system.
  • Tends or operates all machines or equipment in the area to substitute for associates that are absent.
  • Maintains product workflow and production records to ensure adherence to daily production schedules.
  • Trains associates in safety, quality and delivery.
  • Inspects product to detect processing defects.
  • Recommends measures to improve production SQDC methods, equipment performance, quality of product and safety of operation.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems with associates in a timely manner.
  • Suggests and initiates plans to motivate associates to achieve work goals.
  • Confers with supervisor/manager on corrective actions to resolve issues.
  • Sets up machines and equipment, as necessary.
  • Performs activities of a supervisor except hiring, discipline, and terminating.
  • Frontline leader for associates in the assigned department.
  • Carries out frontline leader responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work, and completes performance appraisals.
  • Works with the Supervisor to make recommendations for performance improvements, rewards and discipline; recommend rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems immediately.
  • Adhere to all safety rules and procedures.
  • Bring unsafe acts and conditions to the attention of the manager.
  • Correct hazards and unsafe conditions.
  • Train other associates in safe work practices.
  • Investigate accidents, near accidents, and potential hazards.
  • Actively manages good safety, health, environmental and housekeeping activities.
