We are seeking an Operations Support Specialists - Balloon Launcher to join our team supporting the Los Alamos National Laboratory! This position is part-time and will be based out of Glendale, AZ. The Balloon Launcher position will contribute to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) Desert-Urban System Integrated Atmospheric Monsoon (DUSTIEAIM) campaign, a collaboration between DOE ARM, Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), and Arizona State University (ASU). Weather balloon launches (also referred to as radiosonde launches) collect important atmospheric data and are a critical part of DUSTIEAIM’s success. Balloon launches will occur at designated times throughout the campaign, which involves preparing the radiosonde, inflating the balloon, and safely releasing the entire flight train.
