About The Position

York Space Systems is seeking an Operations Support Specialist to support operational activities at our customer Operations Center (OC) in Huntsville, Alabama. Staff will be assigned to provide 24/7 operational support to SDA’s Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA) Transport Layer. The PWSA Transport Layer will provide multi-band global communications access and persistent encrypted connectivity for warfighter missions. Staff will be required to work shifts and weekends and be on-site at the government customer facilities. Staff will be working in a highly dynamic environment with multiple government customers and partner organizations to provide critical warfighter capabilities.

Requirements

  • 0-6 years of experience in an applicable engineering field
  • Ability to quickly learn operational documentation, software, and hardware design
  • Familiarity with Python
  • Excellent organization and communication skills
  • Ability to work well in both a team environment and executing individual tasks
  • Ability to regularly work off hours, weekends and holidays; shift work required
  • Active Security Clearance – SECRET

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of spacecraft subsystems, orbital dynamics, and ground systems
  • Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, SharePoint or other project management tools
  • Experience with Telemetry analysis and trending
  • Experience with Space situational awareness
  • Experience with Flight and ground software
  • Experience with Network administration
  • Experience with Data management
  • General familiarity with current cybersecurity best practices
  • TS/SCI Security Clearance
  • BS degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or relevant technical field (or equivalent experience)

Responsibilities

  • Perform on-console tasks for real-time operations and anomaly investigations for multiple missions
  • Develop and execute operational documentation, including procedures, anomaly documentation, and information files
  • Respond to anomalies - hardware and software - for both ground and space assets
  • Monitor health and safety of space and ground segments by trending and monitoring telemetry
  • Participate in mission rehearsals, launch support activities, and anomaly response exercises
  • Work with engineering subject matter experts and Mission Operations personnel to plan and execute mission objectives ensuring contractual commitments
  • Support mission integration into the operations center
  • Support Mission Planning activities for the PWSA constellation
