About The Position

This internship focuses on building internal software tools to improve the efficiency and visibility of Formlabs' global supply chain. The intern will work directly with senior operations leadership to design, build, deploy, and maintain these tools, which will provide live visibility into supply risk, production readiness, and cost drivers. The goal is to create production-quality software that translates raw operational data into actionable insights, moving beyond manual processes and disconnected spreadsheets. The tools developed will be used by operations teams and are expected to be reliable and scalable.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience building software projects (personal, class, or deployed tools) with the ability to discuss the development process, challenges, and solutions.
  • Proficiency in Python or JavaScript, comfortable working across the full stack (data pipelines, backend logic, front-end interfaces).
  • Experience deploying software to a production environment and understanding of reliable operation.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms and infrastructure basics (e.g., spinning up services, managing environment configs, debugging deployments).
  • Proficient with version control (Git), including branching, committing, reviewing, and documenting.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders and translate operational problems into technical requirements.
  • Ability to operate with autonomy and know when to ask for help.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage, Cloud Scheduler) or equivalent cloud services.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), or infrastructure-as-code tooling.
  • Prior internship or project experience in a DevOps, data engineering, or internal tools role.
  • Experience with BI and data visualization tools (Looker Studio, Tableau, Metabase, or similar).
  • Experience with React or other modern front-end frameworks.
  • Exposure to ETL/ELT workflows, data pipeline orchestration, or workflow automation platforms.
  • Familiarity with supply chain, manufacturing, or operations domains.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full lifecycle of internal operational tools, from design and local development through testing, deployment, and ongoing iteration in a production environment.
  • Build and deploy data pipelines to ingest, clean, and normalize raw data from external vendor reports into structured, queryable formats.
  • Develop and maintain web-based dashboards and applications for non-technical operations teammates to provide real-time visibility into supply chain health, production readiness, and operational risk.
  • Deploy and manage cloud infrastructure supporting these tools, including cloud functions, scheduled jobs, and data warehouse integrations.
  • Design for maintainability and handoff by writing clean, documented, version-controlled code.
  • Demo work regularly to managers and the broader ops team, incorporating feedback.
  • Identify opportunities to automate high-friction manual workflows across procurement, production planning, and supplier management.

Benefits

  • Flexible Out of Office Plan
  • Salaried bi-weekly pay schedule
  • Ample on-site parking
  • Pre-tax commuter benefits
  • Catered on-site lunches (3x per week)
  • Snacks, beverages & treats
  • Cohort-based social and professional development experience for interns
  • Opt-in culture events
