They are currently seeking a Supply Chain Operations Intern in their Syracuse, NY office. This role is for a bright-minded, self-motivated, and detail-oriented student with analytical skills and a business-minded background, eager to contribute to the fast-paced world of third-party logistics and freight forwarding. The intern's contributions will directly impact the company's ability to provide exceptional client service and maintain its industry leadership.

Requirements

  • Matriculated rising undergraduate student majoring in business, logistics, supply chain management or related discipline.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Must possess polished, professional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must possess a strong attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Ability to work both independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment and be receptive to professional feedback regarding developmental opportunities.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Ability to effectively multitask.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.

  • Experience in negotiating with service providers and problem solving for mutual benefit.

Responsibilities

  • Support branch operations with respect to imports, including opening shipment files and filing ISF entries.
  • Efficiently match available freight loads with available carrier options.
  • Track shipments, contact carriers, perform data entry and analysis to support decision making, filing, and other duties as instructed by the Leadership team.
  • Assist with industry research using the internet.
  • Participate in meetings to observe company processes and enhance learning.
  • Communicate regularly with carriers and agents to build long-term, trusted partnerships and sell Mohawk services.
  • Negotiate pricing and prepare quotes for clients.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve departmental goals.
