Operations Supervisor - First Shift
About The Position
Franklin Logistics is seeking a motivated, hands-on Operations Supervisor to lead their warehouse operations in Chambersburg, PA. This role involves actively engaging with a team, providing direction, removing obstacles, and helping employees succeed. The Operations Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing daily warehouse operations, including receiving, shipping, inventory, distribution, and material handling. They will also coordinate rail and transportation activities, solve operational challenges, and drive performance in safety, quality, production, and service. The ideal candidate will have a hands-on leadership style, strong organizational and delegation skills, a commitment to mentoring, and a belief that safety precedes production. Experience in warehouse operations, logistics, distribution, transportation, or rail operations, along with familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), is beneficial.
Requirements
- High School Diploma required.
- 2 – 5 years’ supervisor experience required
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, Outlook
- Forklift Experience highly preferred
- Previous experience in logistics or supply chain management, preferably in an e-commerce or 3PL environment
Nice To Haves
- College degree in Business, Logistics, or similar field is preferred.
- Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) is also helpful. Franklin Logistics utilizes Camelot WMS.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop the warehouse team by setting clear expectations, delegating responsibilities, and providing hands-on coaching.
- Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Partner with Operations leadership and HR on staffing, performance, and employee development.
- Lead by example in reinforcing safe work practices and ensuring employees follow company policies and procedures.
- Create an environment where employees feel responsible for their own safety and the safety of others.
- Oversee daily receiving, shipping, inventory, distribution, and material-handling activities.
- Coordinate warehouse personnel and equipment to ensure products are loaded, unloaded, stored, and shipped accurately and on schedule.
- Oversee rail unloading and empty railcar release activities.
- Direct workflows to maintain efficient product movement, meet deadlines, and minimize unnecessary demurrage and detention costs.
- Take ownership of daily operational challenges and work with customers, drivers, vendors, and internal departments to identify solutions.
- Eliminate roadblocks and improve operational efficiency.
- Maintain a strong presence on the warehouse floor and participate in leadership meetings.
- Help drive performance across safety, quality, production, and service.
