About The Position

Run the Night Shift with Dayton Freight as an Operations Supervisor! This role is for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy keeping operations running smoothly. As an Operations Supervisor, you will be the leader on the floor, coordinating freight movement, supporting your team, and ensuring safe, efficient, and timely delivery of goods. This is an opportunity to lead from the front, make real-time decisions, and take ownership of overnight operations.

Requirements

• Knowledge of the LTL / transportation industry
• Experience managing drivers and dockworkers
• Familiarity with the local geographic area
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Must be 18+ and legally eligible to work in the U.S.
• Fluent in English

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and optimize freight movement for maximum efficiency
• Track performance metrics and improve service center operations
• Review reports and collaborate with your team to keep everything on track
• Coordinate freight appointments and ensure smooth delivery flow
• Assist with billing, rating, manifesting, and freight analysis
• Build strong communication with customers and internal teams
• Help train, develop, and evaluate team members
• Support hiring and onboarding alongside the Service Center Manager
• Maintain a safe, secure, and well-run facility
• Investigate incidents and help implement corrective actions
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations (DOT, OSHA, EPA, ICC)
• Lead team meetings and keep everyone aligned
• Take on special projects and keep operations moving forward
• Participate in the company’s goal of satisfying our customers economically
• Perform tasks not specifically listed in their job description as called upon
