About The Position

The Operations Supervisor will plan, schedule, coordinate and implement methods and procedures that will ensure the most efficient and economical routing and movement of customers’ freight in an error-free manner. This role involves compiling production and service records, measuring conformance to standards, and inspecting and measuring personnel performance to improve overall Service Center operations. The supervisor will review logs and reports, confer with shift personnel, and set up appointment freight deliveries. Responsibilities also include assisting with billing, rating, manifesting, and analysis of freight weight and size, maintaining excellent communication with customers, and assisting with training, development, and evaluation of personnel. In conjunction with the Service Center Manager, the supervisor will recruit, qualify, interview, hire, train, and develop Service Center personnel. Additionally, the role ensures the protection and maintenance of Service Center premises, assists in accident investigations and corrective actions, and understands and applies company safety practices including DOT, EPA, ICC, and OSHA rules and regulations. The supervisor will also facilitate information meetings and handle special assignments.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the LTL/ Transportation Industry
  • Has managed Drivers and Dockworkers
  • Knowledge of the surrounding geographical area to the Service Center
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Fluent in English

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, coordinate and implement methods and procedures for efficient and economical routing and movement of customers’ freight.
  • Compile production and service records and measure conformance to standards.
  • Inspect and measure performance of personnel to improve overall Service Center operations.
  • Review logs and reports and confer with shift personnel to ascertain scheduling, production and administrative support requirements.
  • Set up appointment freight deliveries.
  • Perform and/or assist with billing, rating, manifesting and analysis of freight weight and size.
  • Maintain excellent communication with external and internal customers.
  • Assist with training, development and evaluation of production and/or clerical personnel performance and recommend or initiate documentation.
  • In conjunction with the Service Center Manager, recruit, qualify, interview, hire, train and develop Service Center personnel.
  • Ensure that Service Center premises are protected and maintained.
  • Assist in the investigation, reporting and initiation of corrective actions for accidents, job-related injuries, and employee discrepancies.
  • Understand and apply company safety practices including DOT, EPA, ICC and OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Assist with the facilitation of information meetings with Service Center team members.
  • Effectively handle special assignments as directed.
