About The Position

The Operations Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Louisiana LNG Plant. The position is responsible for the direct supervision of Shift Supervisors and Plant Operators, achieving production targets, overall plant reliability, and coordination necessary for planned and unplanned maintenance. Responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, process safety, personnel safety, and adherence to industry standards and contractual requirements. The incumbent must have the skill to function as a Shift Supervisor and/or Board Operator when needed, in addition to managing the work performed by the team and assigned contractors.

Requirements

  • Ability to identify and assess engineering and operational risk
  • Ability to influence and earn credibility across all levels of the organisation including contractors.
  • Demonstrated sound safety-based leadership and demonstrated ability to provide coaching to project personnel to ensure HSE in design and execution activities maintains a high focus.
  • Demonstrated skills to identify, report on and resolve project and people strategic issues.
  • Ability to lead a large multi-skilled team, with positive influence on team and organisation
  • Minimum of ten years combined operating/maintenance/engineering experience in LNG terminal and/or petrochemical/gas including a minimum of three years operating supervisory experience
  • In depth and demonstrated knowledge of the project issues including safety and integrity requirements
  • In depth understanding and knowledge of Woodside processes and systems.
  • Knowledge in Process Safety Critical Role Competency
  • Understanding of engineering requirements for legislative, regulatory and business process compliance

  • Experience in LNG liquefaction facilities highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manages a safe and healthy workplace for staff and ensure health, safety and emergency requirements are met including adequate emergency coverage. Provides leadership of emergency situations as required
  • Developing, leading and motivating team members to achieve the Process Safety Management Procedure requirements
  • Leading risk identification and assessments to ensure conformance
  • Accountable for permit to work governance, process and permit requirements.
  • Responsible for engineering input into the safety case and document development
  • Responsibility for the management of pre-operations project risks and identification and management of carryover risks into the operations phase.
  • Accountable for ensuring facilities meet licence to operate and regulated role compliance.
  • Responsible for leading Operations Readiness delivery and alignment of project and asset
  • Accountable for ensuring the facility has the required level of competence and capability prior to RFSU of a project
  • Responsible for identification and development of operational philosophies, strategies and procedures applicable to assigned projects.
  • Accountable for delivery of requirements as defined in the Operation Readiness Procedure.
  • Responsible for providing input to the facility budget forecasts and developing OPEX budgets in conjunction with the project accountant and cost engineers.
  • Provide Operation Readiness support and involvement in assurance processes (incl. Operation Readiness OPS Peer Reviews).
  • Leads development of all operations procedures and work instructions and train the operations staff in the safe, reliable, and efficient methods of LNG manufacturing through the general supervision of the Day Operations group
  • Provide quality operational input to HSE processes including HAZOPs, HAZIDs, technical reviews, etc.
  • Collaborate with engineering to ensure Operations and Maintenance outcomes are an integral part of design decisions.
  • Provides leadership to the LNG facility, oversee the execution of capital projects, plan and organize projects and maintenance activities of staff to minimize impact on LNG production commitments.
