About The Position

As a Specialist, Operations, Canadian Tax Reporting, you will play a critical role in managing complex tax reporting functions within Wealth Management Canada Tax Operations. You will specialize in Non-Qualified Investments (NQI) reporting within registered plans, T3 trust returns processing for non-qualified investment, and estate reporting. This role combines regulatory compliance expertise with operational excellence, supporting our registered plans initiatives while ensuring accuracy and adherence to Canadian tax authority requirements (CRA/RQ). In this role, you will also be responsible for liaising with business partners and vendors in scheduling, tracking, and quality control activities, escalating issues and risk elements as applicable. You will be responsible for supporting and resolving complex client inquiries independently, seeking assistance as appropriate, following established department procedures.

Requirements

  • 4-year degree from an accredited university OR High school diploma/equivalent AND 2+ years of relevant industry experience
  • 1+ year in securities, banking, technology, or tax operations industry.
  • Proficient computer skills in Windows-based software products including Word, Excel and Access
  • Experience with T3 trust return processing.
  • Strong data analysis and reconciliation capabilities.
  • Ability to work with large datasets and reporting tools.
  • Strong problem identification, analytical and resolution skills required to support escalated issue resolution and/or oversight requirements associated with exception-based complex processes

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of non-qualified investments and registered plan legislation.
  • Experience with estate tax reporting
  • Proficiency in French
  • Prior experience with RBC systems or wealth management platforms

Responsibilities

  • Manage NQI reporting workflows within registered plans (RRSP, TFSA, FHSA, RIF) and ensure accurate validation, documentation, and reporting of NQI holdings.
  • Research and resolve NQI compliance issues and escalate complex matters to managers as needed, maintaining adherence to all regulatory and firm policy requirements.
  • Investigate and resolve data variances with documented root cause analysis and maintain detailed logs of processing results and follow-up actions.
  • Assist with estate account reporting (T3 trust returns) and tax compliance workflows and support preparation of required tax documentation for estate-related registered accounts.
  • Execute daily oversight of exception-based processes to validate system accuracy and run and analyze reports to identify and resolve exceptions.
  • Perform large-scale data analysis to support accuracy and efficiency initiatives and participate in testing and implementation of system enhancements for registered plans.
  • Provide technical support and problem resolution for business partners, clients, and other operations departments; address escalated inquiries independently; and liaise with CRA/RQ and external vendors as required.
  • Annual review and updating of department procedures.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
