About The Position

Subject to administrative approval, serves as the Special Operations Project Manager for the Chief Operations Officer of the Department of Human Services. Coordinates projects under the purview of the Chief Operations Officer. Serves as primary point of contact between the Chief Operations Office and representatives from other Offices/Divisions of DHS, the public, and other state agencies. Conceptualizes, develops, and recommends procedural guidelines for the development and implementation of projects related to the efficient operation of the Office. Coordinates, directs, and participates in a variety of special projects, including those of a highly sensitive and confidential nature.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years college.
  • Requires three (3) years progressively responsible project management experience in a public or private organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Five (5) years of professional experience completing specialized projects, managing operational projects, assignments and performance goals for a public or private organization.
  • Project Management (PMP) Certification or similar project management certification.
  • Three (3) years of professional experience investigating sensitive issues impacting agency management and statewide operations, maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with professionalism.
  • Three (3) years of professional experience communicating with both internal and external stakeholders daily to implement operational improvements.
  • Three (3) years of professional experience participating in planning, policy and programming activities mandated by legislation, regulations, operations, personnel and organizational structure related to efficient operations for a public or private organization.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as Operations Special Project Manager for the Chief Operations Officer (COO) of the Department of Human Services to support in the completion of specialized projects, and assignments.
  • Participates in planning, policy, and programming activities mandated by legislation, regulations, operations, personnel, organizational structure, and the Assistant Secretary.
  • Carries out strategic initiatives that support the fundamentals of operations and process improvement throughout the agency.
  • Leads the execution of special projects that support the operations of DHS.
  • Develops and maintains effective relationships with intra and inter agency Stakeholders including Directors, Division Administrators and DHS Management to implement operational improvements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
