About The Position

The Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) is seeking an Operations Research / Systems Analyst (OR/SA) to join the Command, Control, and Communication Division (C3D) within the Sensor and Electromagnetic Application Laboratory (SEAL) in Boston, MA. This role involves applying advanced analytical and systems engineering methods to support critical decision-making for government and industry clients. The OR/SA will research, develop, and integrate system simulation frameworks, prediction models, and analysis techniques. Responsibilities include modeling operational environments, performing trade studies via computer simulation, providing decision support for alternative architectures, and designing/developing decision support tools with intuitive graphical user interfaces. The role also involves eliciting information from Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), utilizing applied statistical analysis, machine learning, optimization, and visualization to support defensible decisions, and conceptualizing, designing, and developing software solutions for simulations, models, and analyses. Additionally, the OR/SA will develop methods, processes, and software tools for designing, integrating, and managing complex systems and system engineering processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 14+ years of experience.
  • Master’s Degree with 12+ years of experience.
  • PhD with 9+ years of experience.
  • Expertise in developing complex operational models, simulations, and decision-support systems.
  • Demonstrated success in leading multi-disciplinary teams on defense-related projects.
  • Proven track record in stakeholder engagement and ability to communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Candidates for this position must be U.S. Citizens.
  • Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Active Top Secret/SCI Clearance.
  • Expertise in emerging technologies such as machine learning, AI, or autonomous systems.
  • Extensive experience in DoD operations, acquisitions, or program management.
  • Published research in recognized journals or conferences.
  • Degree in Operations Research, Systems Engineering, or Data Science.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all technical aspects of supporting defensible decision making, including directing multiple lab resources for large scale products or system deployments
  • Manage sub-contractor resources supporting all system engineering areas
  • Develop and implement approaches to address the sponsors' needs within the contractual schedule and budget
  • Develop technical reports detailing models used and processes followed for developing a decision support solution
  • Review and verify work-products are consistent, accurate, and that they address the needs of the sponsor
  • Serve as a resource and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for operations research and systems engineering tools and technologies
  • Mentor and support the teaching and training of student employees and junior-level researchers
  • Significantly contribute to whitepapers and proposals
  • Lead development and deployment of predictive modeling and simulation tools for advanced operational decision-making.
  • Drive technical direction for systems engineering and operational research initiatives supporting DoD missions.
  • Mentor junior researchers and facilitate their growth in analytical tools, statistical analysis, and systems engineering.
  • Oversee development of complex software solutions to model operational environments and provide defensible decision support.
  • Act as the primary technical liaison with senior DoD officials, ensuring alignment with national defense priorities.
  • Publish technical papers, present research findings, and participate in industry symposia to establish thought leadership.
  • Lead proposal development and contribute to securing new research funding opportunities.
  • Supervise multi-disciplinary teams working on high-profile DoD programs and ensure deliverables meet technical quality standards.
