About The Position

Bestica is hiring an Operations Research Analyst to provide their services at Wright Patterson Air Force Base located in Dayton, OH. The analyst will provide subject matter expertise to the USAFSAM Department of Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM/FE), Aerospace Medicine Studies and Analysis Division (FES), and the Aerospace Medicine Studies and Analysis Support Branch (FESS) Operational Consult team. This team is designed to offer a swift and thorough response to complex operational questions from the field, maintain active surveillance capabilities, expand relevant data repositories, and assist with studies and analysis requirements, including technical consultation, data analytics, and data management. USAFSAM/FESS is responsible for the studies and analysis infrastructure, project execution, project management, tracking funding and timelines, acquisition/contracting support, consultation on research/study experimental design, data analytics, operational issues, protocol submissions for IRBs and IACUCs, epidemiological practices, and manuscript/report writing and editing. This role requires expertise within the FESS branch to aid USAFSAM in providing studies and analyses project consultation, and to offer expert consultation and assistance to MAJCOM Aerospace Medicine teams and base-level personnel investigating physiological events and human factors issues.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Operations Research or related field.
  • Extensive coursework in mathematics, probability, statistics, or mathematical logic.
  • At least 5 years of experience in their field.
  • Expert knowledge in operations research and rigorous methods of scientific inquiry and analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Providing operational research analytic expertise for the Operational Consultation Support team.
  • Supporting the technical performance of USAFSAM studies and analysis portfolio.
  • Assisting in analyzing management problems and providing advice on the probable effects of alternative solutions.
  • Employing scientific and analytical techniques to define, quantify, and recommend the feasibility of assigned projects, studies, or problems.
  • Performing independent analysis leading to unique analytical research proposals and studies that recommend alternative courses of action to USAFSAM personnel.
  • Ensuring discovered problems are clearly defined through data collection, research, and investigation of objectives and relevant criteria.
  • Identifying additional questions to be answered, providing or critiquing essential elements of analysis, and providing alternatives to be considered.
  • Suggesting analytical techniques to be employed.
  • Providing expertise concerning the validity of assumptions made and the criteria by which alternatives are recommended.
  • Advising and recommending new techniques, innovations, and technical and scientific advancements to overcome aeromedical operational issues.
  • Providing research support to 711 HPW researchers.
  • Attending/supporting meetings related to expertise with government and civilian organizations, academia, and subject matter experts.
  • Drafting reports, preparing, and/or presenting reports, documents, and/or presentations pertaining to the status of research and data analysis as requested.
  • Meeting FESS projected suspense dates, which could include technical reports, manuscripts, and/or presentations.
  • Expertly developing, monitoring, reviewing, editing, and delivering all products, including technical reports, white papers, publications, memorandums, and presentations.
  • Applying and providing all information in a timely manner related to obtaining access to databases and data required to perform duties.
