About The Position

The Effectors Operations Quality organization is seeking an Operations Quality Engineer with hands-on hardware quality experience to become a key part of the team. The Operations Quality Team assures product and process quality with an emphasis on Product Compliance, Customer Satisfaction and Continuous Improvement.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience
  • Relevant experience is working within electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, system engineering, manufacturing/industrial engineering or supplier engineering
  • Experience in first article inspection reports (FAIRs) and/or quality monitoring in a manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Experience in development/usage of quality metrics or Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations
  • Experience interpreting drawings, work instructions, and/or customer specifications
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • J-STD-001, Six Sigma, Lean experience and/or ASQ Certifications
  • Experience in manufacturing process with quality systems and/or industry technical standards (e.g. ISO 9001, AS9100 and/or AS9102)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of key process characteristics and ability to implement effective process control techniques.
  • Strong familiarity with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality management systems
  • Proficient in the use of pareto analysis, cause/effect diagrams, process mapping
  • Able to facilitate cross-functional teams in systematic improvement activities (e.g. Six-sigma, lean manufacturing)

Responsibilities

  • Baseline factory metrics (scrap, rework, FPY, etc.), identify top drivers, forecast future demand for top drivers and identify areas of opportunity for improvement.
  • Engage manufacturing defect prevention teams to ensure alignment on top priorities (using baseline data and future forecast) to drive containment, Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action Implementation.
  • Perform process walks, operator observations, and lead manufacturing team discussions to drive process enhancements to reduce variation.
  • Lead/Drive Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) initiatives (PFMEA, control Plans, SPC, etc.) using baseline metrics and future demand with the ability to perform verification/validation of improvements and efficiencies.
  • Identify supplier escapes/issues and ensure proper containment and backflow to the Supplier Quality Management team.
