About The Position

The Operations Purchasing Manager owns end-to-end procurement — sourcing materials, supplies, and equipment cost-effectively and on time, managing vendor relationships and contracts, and partnering with operations, warehouse, and finance to control costs. This is a ground-floor role: Nuage has no formal opex/indirect purchasing process today. This person will build it from scratch — requisition workflows, approval thresholds, vendor standards, and reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Proven track record of vendor negotiation and cost management
  • Track record of driving cross-functional adoption of new processes or policies
  • Comfortable operating with ambiguity and creating structure where none exists
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using purchasing/inventory or ERP software
  • Excellent communication and relationship-management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple vendor relationships and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets for cost analysis and reporting

Nice To Haves

  • 3-5+ years in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, ideally in manufacturing or design/production
  • Experience building or overhauling a purchasing function from the ground up, ideally without a mature existing process
  • Experience in furniture, home goods, or design/manufacturing industries
  • Familiarity with import/export logistics and freight coordination
  • Certification in supply chain management (e.g., CPSM, CSCP) a plus

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement Nuage's first formal indirect/opex purchasing process, including requisition and approval workflows
  • Establish purchasing policies, spend thresholds, and vendor onboarding standards
  • Drive cross-functional adoption of new processes with Finance, Operations, and department heads
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procurement best practices, and relevant regulations
  • Source, evaluate, and negotiate with vendors to secure favorable pricing, terms, and delivery schedules
  • Manage vendor relationships, including performance reviews, contract renewals, and issue resolution
  • Vet and onboard new suppliers, negotiating initial contract terms
  • Maintain accurate records of contracts, pricing agreements, and vendor certifications (e.g., insurance, COIs)
  • Develop purchasing strategies aligned with production schedules and operational needs
  • Process purchase orders and ensure accurate documentation for approvals, receiving, and invoicing
  • Monitor inventory levels with warehouse/production teams to prevent stockouts or overstock
  • Support cross-location coordination between Miami and Chicago on shared vendor accounts and logistics
  • Analyze purchasing data and market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Partner with Finance/Accounting on budget tracking, vendor payment terms, and cost reconciliation
  • Identify opportunities to consolidate spend, streamline vendor lists, and improve workflows
