About The Position

Bring exceptional hospitality to life in a place built for discovery. As the Manager of Operations, you will lead daily food and beverage operations at the Science Museum of Minnesota, support a welcoming experience for every guest, and guide teams in delivering consistent service. You will oversee staffing, service execution, financial controls, safety standards, inventory, and event readiness while partnering across culinary, hospitality, and venue teams.

Requirements

  • Three or more years of food and beverage, hospitality, restaurant, catering, or venue operations experience
  • One or more years of supervisory or management experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Experience using point-of-sale, scheduling, inventory, and financial-reporting systems
  • Working knowledge of food safety, sanitation, responsible alcohol service, and workplace safety requirements
  • Food protection manager certification or ability to obtain certification within the required timeframe
  • Responsible alcohol service certification or ability to obtain certification, when applicable

Nice To Haves

  • Associates’s degree in hospitality, business administration, food service management, or a related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Leads daily food and beverage operations across assigned service areas
  • Supervises, schedules, trains, and develops hourly team members and supervisors
  • Coordinates operational plans for museum attendance, special events, catering, and peak service periods
  • Maintains service, presentation, food safety, sanitation, and responsible alcohol service standards
  • Monitors labor, product costs, inventory, waste, and other controllable expenses
  • Reviews forecasts, sales reports, schedules, event details, and operational results
  • Partners with culinary and purchasing teams to maintain appropriate product and equipment levels
  • Resolves guest concerns and follows through with venue and Levy leadership
  • Conducts pre-shift meetings and communicates menu, service, safety, and event information
  • Ensures compliance with Levy policies, venue requirements, and applicable regulations
  • Supports recruiting, onboarding, performance management, and team-member development
  • Identifies opportunities to improve service, efficiency, revenue, and the overall guest experience
