About The Position

Van Pool Transportation LLC is seeking an Operations Manager who will oversee all operational aspects of a multi-service, fast-paced operating environment. This position will manage 50+ drivers, 49+ daily routes, 60+ vehicles, Transportation Coordinators, and Trainers. The role involves serving as the primary contact to school districts, ensuring strong collaborative relationships with key stakeholders. Effective and frequent communication with staff is crucial to ensure employees have the necessary resources to meet daily operational tasks successfully. The Operations Manager partners with safety leaders to establish and maintain a ‘safety-first’ culture, and is responsible for the daily, weekly, and monthly review of key operational metrics. This role includes interviewing, hiring, and training new transportation coordinators/supervisors, as well as identifying and cultivating a pipeline of internal talent for next-level positions. The Operations Manager will prepare monthly work schedules, maintain appropriate staffing levels for drivers and monitors by fostering a positive work culture, and ensure all employees have proper certifications, training, and licensing. Collaboration with fleet maintenance is required to keep vans and buses operational and safe. The role also involves reviewing and preparing billing and payroll each month.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in operations management, business administration, or related field.
  • Progressive work experience in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Management of hourly staff, and responsible for managing metrics.
  • Proficient experience in the use of Microsoft Office.
  • Maintain a good driving record.
  • Self-motivated, show initiative and have a strong work ethic.
  • Must be comfortable with early-morning hours.
  • Exhibit strong leadership skills and can successfully supervise and direct teams.
  • Effective customer service and conflict resolution skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented and like solving problems.
  • Maintain a very high standard of accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Must show ‘grace under pressure during extremely busy times.

Benefits

  • Compensation: $75,000-$90,000 annually
