About The Position

Under the direction of the Director of Information Technology, the Operations Manager supervises and manages the daily activity of the field technicians and helpdesk personnel. The Operations Manager ensures proper licensing of software, recommends standards for computer hardware, and is responsible for project management of assigned projects.

Requirements

  • Ten years experience installing and deploying computers in a large LAN/WAN environment.
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a baccalaureate degree with major in computer science, business administration, electrical engineering or a closely related field of study.
  • Two years of additional experience may be substituted for two years of education.
  • Valid California Class C driver's licenses; incumbent is required to use personal vehicle and provide proof of insurance.
  • A+ certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with TCP/IP a plus.
  • MCSE and CCNA desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director in planning and organizing the end-user service and support throughout the district.
  • Organize field service requests and coordinate assignments to technicians.
  • Monitor services rendered by the department in response to service requests to ensure efficient utilization of time, resources, and quality standardization of performance by technicians.
  • Evaluate and recommend methods to improve service response time and the overall effectiveness of resources.
  • Supervise and implement periodic maintenance of district computers.
  • Give direction to the technology helpdesk.
  • Monitor and maintain district software licensing.
  • Responsible for computer configurations and deployment of new computers to all District sites.
  • Back up and restore user data as required.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve more difficult or complex computer hardware and software issues that cannot be resolved by subordinates.
  • Set and implement desktop standards and minimum PC configurations.
  • Assist Network Analyst and users with software and network configurations.
  • Oversee desktop security and maintenance.
  • Meet and communicate with technology vendors that provide data communication services and equipment.
  • Assist with new software rollouts and user transitions/upgrades.
  • Meet with peers and clearly communicate changes and fixes.
  • Troubleshoot connectivity issues.
  • Communicate effectively in writing and verbally with both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Analyze the capabilities of existing hardware and software and recommend changes and improvements.
