About The Position

Essentia Health is hiring an Operations Manager to support its General Surgery and Plastic Surgery departments at the Duluth Clinic, with oversight and partnership with the Superior Clinic. This is a full-time, day-shift, salaried position that is fully benefit eligible. In collaboration with senior leadership, the Operations Manager leads large multispecialty or family practice group operations. The role focuses on practice operations, including planning, prioritizing, and directing team responsibilities to achieve operational goals. The manager maintains effective patient-care systems through fiscal and operational management and ensures team members understand and follow applicable policies, practices, and procedures. The role communicates with internal and external stakeholders, manages teams, and implements process, system, and product improvements. It also includes coaching and mentoring emerging talent, developing the talent pipeline, overseeing regulatory and accreditation compliance, maintaining Practice Manuals, ensuring staff orientation and ongoing education, and contributing to program and project development. The position requires project management, effective multidisciplinary communication, and coordination of complex clinical schedules in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree, or an associate degree in Nursing with the ability to obtain a bachelor’s degree within three years of hire.
At least three years of healthcare experience, preferably in a clinical setting, or completion of an Essentia Health administrative fellowship.
Strong project management and organizational skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
Ability to coordinate complex clinical schedules.
Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Problem-solving skills and ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
Professionalism and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Nice To Haves

Experience supporting change management as a leader.
Experience leading a surgical team.
Five or more years of healthcare experience.

Responsibilities

Lead the operational activities of large multispecialty group practices or large family practices in collaboration with senior leadership.
Plan, prioritize, and direct the work and responsibilities of teams and colleagues to achieve operational results.
Manage fiscal and operational functions to maintain effective patient-care systems.
Ensure team members understand and follow policies, practices, and procedures.
Communicate with parties inside and outside the job function, including external customers or vendors as applicable.
Manage teams and implement process, system, or product adjustments and improvements to enhance performance.
Coach, lead, and mentor emerging talent and develop the talent pipeline.
Oversee compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements and the development and maintenance of Practice Manuals.
Ensure staff orientation and ongoing education.
Provide input into program and project development.
Support General Surgery and Plastic Surgery departments at the Duluth Clinic and partner with the Superior Clinic.
Coordinate complex clinical schedules and manage projects in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
