About The Position

The Wags Club is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join the management team at their luxury dog daycare and boarding resort. This role is ideal for individuals with prior management experience in 24/7 service environments such as hotels, resorts, senior living communities, or healthcare operations. The Operations Manager will work closely with the General Manager, focusing on the day-to-day operations, including employee management, client relations, and system oversight. While professional pet-care experience is not required, a strong background in operations and people management is essential. The company will provide training specific to the pet care industry.

Requirements

  • Significant management or leadership experience in hospitality, hotels, resorts, senior living, healthcare, pet care, or another 24/7 service-oriented operation
  • Experience directly supervising employees and providing day-to-day operational leadership
  • Experience leading teams across multiple shifts, departments, or functional areas
  • Understanding of how to be a strong second-in-command and work effectively in partnership with a General Manager
  • Comfortable making day-to-day operational decisions independently while knowing when an issue needs to be escalated
  • Experience coaching, training, developing, and holding employees accountable
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to remain calm and effective when unexpected situations arise
  • Understanding that managing a 24-hour operation sometimes requires responding to important issues outside normal working hours
  • Clear and professional communication with employees, clients, vendors, and management
  • Comfortable handling difficult conversations and resolving both employee and client issues
  • Strong computer skills and comfort learning and using business management software
  • Dependable, responsible, proactive, and follows through
  • Positive attitude and ability to motivate and develop a team
  • Friendly, outgoing, and genuinely enjoys being around dogs
  • Valid California driver's license
  • Flexibility required to help manage a seven-day, 24-hour operation
  • Physically able to stand for extended periods, crouch, stoop, handle dogs of various sizes, and occasionally assist with cleaning, sanitizing, bathing, or other dog-care responsibilities when needed

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations throughout the dog daycare and boarding resort
  • Work closely with the General Manager to implement operational priorities, policies, and company standards
  • Provide daily leadership and direction to employees, Team Leads, and other supervisory staff
  • Coach, train, develop, and hold employees accountable for performance
  • Identify operational inefficiencies and implement practical solutions that improve productivity, consistency, and service
  • Ensure appropriate staffing, workflow, and communication across all areas of the resort
  • Help build and maintain a strong leadership structure so the operation runs effectively across all shifts
  • Play an integral role in onboarding and training new employees and retraining existing staff as needed
  • Participate in performance reviews, employee coaching, and disciplinary processes
  • Build strong relationships with clients and professionally resolve client concerns
  • Oversee Front Office operations and support sales and revenue goals
  • Oversee dog-care operations, including daycare, boarding, feeding, medication, and grooming
  • Maintain high standards for dog safety, cleanliness, organization, and overall facility operations
  • Manage inventory and ordering
  • Oversee daily cash handling, transactions, and petty cash
  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers to help ensure the facility and equipment are properly maintained
  • Ensure emergency procedures are understood and followed
  • Transport dogs to veterinary appointments or emergency care when necessary
  • Step in wherever needed to keep the operation running safely and smoothly
