About The Position

The Operations Manager will coordinate service center activities by assigning responsibilities, supervising, and managing Area Managers and CSR's. This role involves planning routes, consolidating reports on load factor, driver productivity, and safety, and working to reduce controllable operating costs. The manager will communicate with customers and CSR's regarding delivery and pickup issues, update Area Managers on inbound freight, and provide coverage for team members. Additionally, the role requires liaising between local Operations, Dock, and Linehaul departments, processing daily reports, and managing onsite tractor and trailer equipment. Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor may also be part of the responsibilities.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or Equivalent
  • 3+ years of LTL Transportation/Dock Experience
  • 5+ years of Management/Supervisor Experience
  • Basic Computer Skills, Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, etc.
  • Strong Customer Service Skills
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills
  • Ability to solve problems
  • Must be able to interact well with others
  • Must be able to work independently, or in a team setting
  • Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high-volume environment with multiple priorities

Nice To Haves

  • AS400 experience is preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates service center activities by assigning responsibilities, supervising, and managing Area Managers and CSR's
  • Planning routes
  • Consolidating pickup/delivery appointments, load factor, driver productivity, and safety reports
  • Reduce controllable operating cost
  • Communicate with customers and CSR's regarding late outbound deliveries and pickups and appointments
  • Update Area Managers on inbound freight
  • Provide coverage for team members in their absence
  • Liaise between local Operations, Dock and Linehaul departments
  • Process freight, appointment, and equipment reports daily
  • Manage tractor and trailer equipment onsite
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor
