About The Position

The Operations Manager is responsible for leading day-to-day manufacturing operations at a medical injection molding facility while executing a structured site transfer and eventual plant closure. This role ensures uninterrupted production to meet customer demand and buffer stock targets, while coordinating the successful transfer of equipment, processes, and products to a receiving site. The Operations Manager serves as the on-site operational leader, maintaining performance, culture, and employee engagement during a period of significant change. This role acts as the primary liaison between the sending and receiving sites, partnering closely with the General Manager, Project Managers, and cross-functional teams to ensure a seamless transition aligned with business, quality, and financial objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 7+ years of manufacturing leadership experience in injection molding and/or medical device environment
  • Experience in site transfers, product transfers, or plant closures strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of ISO 13485 and ISO 9001 requirements
  • Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional teams and complex projects
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing operational budgets and cost performance
  • Proven ability to lead teams through change while maintaining performance and engagement

Responsibilities

  • Lead all production operations including molding, assembly, maintenance, warehouse, and quality in a regulated ISO 13485 / ISO 9001 environment
  • Drive daily execution to achieve production schedules and buffer stock targets to support uninterrupted customer supply
  • Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and compliance standards throughout all phases of operation and transfer
  • Provide direction and support to Production Manager, shift leads, and functional team leaders
  • Partner with Project Managers to plan and execute the transfer of products, processes, and equipment to receiving site(s)
  • Coordinate cross-functional activities including engineering, quality, validation, supply chain, and logistics
  • Serve as the operational "voice of the sending site," ensuring knowledge transfer, risk identification, and issue resolution
  • Support equipment decommissioning, packaging, shipment, and installation readiness at receiving locations
  • Ensure documentation, process knowledge, and tribal knowledge are effectively captured and transferred
  • Lead the structured wind-down of operations in alignment with transfer timelines and business needs
  • Oversee asset disposition, inventory management, and facility clean-out activities
  • Ensure site is transitioned in compliance with regulatory, environmental, and landlord requirements
  • Partner with leadership on workforce planning and responsible site exit execution
  • Manage site-level financial performance with a strong understanding of P&L drivers
  • Identify and execute cost savings opportunities during transition without compromising quality or delivery
  • Monitor labor efficiency, scrap, overhead costs, and operational KPIs
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting activities
  • Maintain a strong, people-focused culture during a period of uncertainty and change
  • Drive employee engagement, communication, and transparency across all levels of the organization
  • Coach and develop leaders and frontline teams to sustain performance and morale
  • Lead with visibility, empathy, and accountability to retain key talent through transition
  • Work closely with the General Manager overseeing both sending and receiving sites to ensure alignment
  • Partner with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, HR, and Customer Service teams
  • Support customer communication as needed to ensure confidence in supply continuity
