About The Position

A Head Start program in Alabama is hiring a hands-on Operations Manager to oversee building operations and transportation services across multiple early childhood education centers in Choctaw, Dallas, Marengo, and Wilcox counties. The role ensures that facilities and fleet operations meet safety, licensing, and compliance standards. The manager supervises drivers, custodians, and maintenance technicians and helps maintain a safe, efficient environment for staff and children.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in operations, facilities, or fleet management.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills.
• CDL with “S” and “P” endorsements, or willingness to obtain them.
• Ability to travel between sites as needed.

Nice To Haves

• Degree in a related field preferred.
• Knowledge of compliance standards in education or childcare settings is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage the cleanliness, maintenance, and security of multiple buildings.
• Supervise transportation operations, including vehicle maintenance and route planning.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal health, safety, and transportation regulations.
• Conduct regular audits of equipment and supplies.
• Supervise 7 bus drivers/custodians and 2 maintenance staff.
• Maintain vendor relationships and manage purchasing of supplies.
• Ensure all inspections, licenses, and permits are current.
• Travel between sites as needed.
