About The Position

Acme Freight is looking for an Operations Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong ability to lead a team daily and communicate effectively across all staff levels. This role is responsible for managing daily operations, including dispatch, to ensure timely deliveries. A successful operations manager must be adept at handling on-the-road conflicts and crises promptly. Prior experience in the field is advantageous but not mandatory.

Requirements

Some aptitude for logistics
Proficient computer and smart phone skills
Good organizational skills

Responsibilities

Maintain the schedule of all delivery drivers throughout the week, making switches and changes as required.
Oversee fleet changes in the morning before the arrival of delivery drivers.
Assign routes and prepare morning totes for each route and driver for daily operations.
Determine when to drop or pick up routes based on logistics and available vehicles.
Proficiently use Excel sheets.
Understand how to switch routes at the warehouse and assign rescue blocks.
Understand policy and procedure and maintain high standards amongst all drivers.
Monitor Cortex, Netradyne, and Mentor on a day-to-day basis.
Coach drivers on best practices for delivery procedures and demonstrate in the field if necessary.
Be willing to pick up a route or rescue, if necessary.
Manage up to 40 people in the field as well as dispatch.
Assist with operational changes to maximize team proficiency.
Communicate effectively what needs to be done.
