About The Position

Wieland is hiring a Operations Lead - Machining and Warehouse. The Operations Lead – Machining & Warehouse is a senior-level hybrid operational role that supports and helps manage the daily production, warehouse, machining, heat treat, and quality-related activities of the machine shop operation. The position serves as a critical operational resource responsible for supporting machining execution, coordinating workflow and scheduling priorities, maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting quality compliance, and reinforcing operational efficiency across multiple functional areas. This role is located in Kilgore, TX and will be fully on-site.

Requirements

  • Degree from a Technical or Machining school, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of senior-level machining experience, including both manual and CNC lathes.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a warehouse or distribution environment.
  • At least 2 years of leadership or management experience.
  • Strong teamwork skills with a demonstrated willingness to learn from and collaborate with others.
  • Proven experience leading, mentoring, and developing team members.
  • Ability to effectively multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Exceptional attention to detail in processes, data, and numerical accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English, with a high level of professionalism.
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed to support operational demands.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CNC programming is preferred.
  • Forklift certification or operating experience is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical maintenance principles is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of heat-treat operations, quality inspection processes, and manufacturing documentation controls preferred.
  • Experience coordinating production schedules and cross-functional workflow activities in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong understanding of inventory control practices and material flow coordination preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support and reinforce the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the machine shop, including manual lathe, CNC lathe, warehouse, and related production support areas while actively performing machinist responsibilities as needed.
  • Lead daily shop floor coordination activities, including production discussions, workflow organization, and machining schedule execution in coordination with Shipping and the Production Coordinator to support operational efficiency and maintain positive KPI performance trends.
  • Drive adherence to established machine shop processes, procedures, and quality requirements while ensuring alignment with the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Lead onboarding and training initiatives for new hires, fostering technical skill development, operational consistency, accountability, and continuous improvement within the department.
  • Maintain strong awareness of departmental inventory levels and participate in physical inventory activities, including warehouse shavings, solids, ingots, and elemental materials. Ensure inventory counts and related operational data are accurately communicated to the Operations Manager and Production Coordinator.
  • Support and help lead preventive and corrective maintenance initiatives across all equipment, ensuring the completion and accuracy of required documentation for daily, monthly, and as-needed maintenance activities.
  • Demonstrate advanced expertise in CNC programming and machining operations, with the ability to evaluate, optimize, and execute production methods that best meet customer specifications, quality standards, production schedules, and operational efficiency goals.
  • Serve as the heat treat operator by ensuring proper matching of documentation, work orders, and test bar specimens while maintaining compliance with quality and customer standards.
  • Perform quality inspections and acceptance checks on castings prior to heat-treat operations, as well as rough and finished machined components, to ensure compliance with customer specifications and internal quality requirements.
  • Promote a team-first culture by remaining flexible and willing to support operations wherever needed across machining, warehouse, heat treat, shipping coordination, and production support activities while effectively managing priorities in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
