About The Position

The Operations/Labeling Supervisor oversees daily operations and labeling to ensure the efficient, safe, and cost-effective production of high-quality food products. This role is responsible for coordinating workflows, managing resources, and supporting cross-functional teams to maintain smooth operational performance. The supervisor ensures compliance with all safety, quality, and regulatory standards while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and employee development.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 3–5 years of experience in production, sanitation, or food manufacturing
  • Working knowledge of USDA regulations, sanitation standards, and food manufacturing best practices.
  • Familiarity with GMPs, HACCP principles, and food safety programs.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to train, motivate, and guide employees in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; ability to learn internal systems and production software.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions with limited information and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • degree in Operations, Food Science, Business, or a related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Verifies that all operational areas—including production lines, equipment, and workstations—are properly set up prior to each scheduled run.
  • Inspects raw materials and in-process product to ensure the highest possible final product grade.
  • Monitors the flow of ingredients, materials, equipment, and personnel to maintain optimal efficiency, throughput, and product quality.
  • Oversees all labeling and casing activities to ensure accurate application of labels, proper material usage, and compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures full compliance with safety requirements by: Conducting safety orientations and ongoing safety training. Enforcing safe work practices and correcting unsafe behaviors or conditions. Identifying, preventing, and resolving hazardous or unhealthful workplace conditions. Investigating workplace accidents and supporting corrective action plans.
  • Develops a thorough understanding of operational workflows, system constraints, and production processes to support daily and weekly planning.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams—including Quality, Maintenance, Sanitation, and Warehouse—to resolve issues and maintain smooth operations.
  • Participates in the development and refinement of operational procedures to clarify requirements and improve performance.
  • Supervises and coaches employees, enforces company policies, and administers discipline fairly and consistently.
  • Actively engages in leadership development and training programs to strengthen supervisory capabilities.
  • Supports departmental goal-setting, KPI tracking, and communication of performance metrics to employees.
  • Creates and delivers training that clearly defines job responsibilities, expectations, and best practices.
  • Responsible for reviewing and approving timecard activity for all direct reports to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely payroll processing.
  • Ensures proper administration of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and timely resolution of grievances.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, operational competency, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Implements and upholds all food safety, legality, and quality policies and procedures, including GMPs, HACCP, food safety programs, product quality standards, food security protocols, regulatory requirements, prerequisite programs, and quality systems.
  • Promotes and models Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and ensures employees understand and follow them.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by the Shift Superintendent and/or Operations Manager.
