We have a rare opportunity for a hardworking Operations Engineer to support military and commercial engine and component testing at the West Palm Beach test site. As a key member of the Florida Test Team, the Operations Engineer ensures that the test facility and all supporting systems are fully prepared to execute testing activities safely and efficiently.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • 8 years of engineering and project management experience or an Advanced degree in Engineering with 5 years of experience
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  • Solid foundation in mechanical engineering principles with the ability to apply this knowledge to complex issues in an operations environment.
  • Quick decision‑making skills and the ability to respond appropriately in high‑pressure situations to prevent costly delays to test programs.
  • Ability to work with and direct personnel of various skill levels and backgrounds.
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Demonstrated ownership, leadership, and self‑motivation to identify necessary tasks and follow through with minimal direction to achieve significant milestones.
  • Functional knowledge of complex mechanical systems including fuel systems, compressed air, high‑pressure gaseous nitrogen, and hydraulics.
  • Project management skills, including planning, prioritization, schedule management, cross‑functional coordination, and tracking/managing costs.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure test facilities, infrastructure, and related systems are ready to support engine and component testing.
  • Coordinate closely with stand mechanics, data recording technicians, STE coordinators, trades personnel, and test engineers to deliver efficient and reliable test operations.
  • Lead all facility and infrastructure modifications, including generating cost estimates, procuring services, and directing contractor activities on the stand.
  • Troubleshoot failed systems safely and quickly, involving other resources as needed to minimize downtime and maintain test schedule commitments.
  • Contribute to development, integration, and support of new designs and capabilities required for future testing.
  • Advocate for and maintain a safe working environment; ensure all coordination, direction, and decision‑making prioritize safety as the highest priority.
