About The Position

Global Engineering Services (GES) North America (NA) Operations Engineering (Ops Eng) is searching for an innovative and solutions-oriented Operations Engineer to root cause, solve, and scale systemic engineering challenges in First and Middle Mile Operations. This role involves leading engineering projects, developing sortation and logistics systems, and solving complex problems within world-class logistics systems across North America. The engineer will troubleshoot and systematize solutions for systems and processes that leverage automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, and robotics. The role requires collaboration with internal and external teams to develop, monitor, and innovate cost-effective solutions for sortation and distribution systems, with projects varying across building type and Line of Business. The engineer will work in a fast-paced and often ambiguous environment on hundreds of projects annually, offering challenges, learning opportunities, and high-impact, high-visibility projects. The role requires 50-70% regional travel and availability to work from a corporate office when not traveling. Candidates should live near or be willing to relocate within a reasonable commuting distance of the office, with relocation assistance potentially provided.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 4+ years of industrial engineer, operations engineer, manufacturing engineer, or project engineer in a manufacturing environment experience
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, VBA, and SQL at the intermediate level
  • Experience working with and managing third party vendors
  • Experience with Six Sigma, lean manufacturing
  • Experience developing and implementing of standards, policies and programs or equivalent
  • Experience with complex automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, and systems and high-speed manufacturing

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree or above in engineering or equivalent STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) field
  • Experience working with material handling equipment (MHE) safety standards in accordance with OEM requirements
  • Experience working with customers, technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs
  • Experience in capital project management involving ownership/management of engineering design projects
  • Experience working directly with engineering teams
  • Experience with design-in-safety

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate efforts to develop optimal solutions and processes for the sortation and transportation network through process design, site layout, and intellectual property considerations.
  • Collaboration with internal teams and external vendors to generate high-quality, cost-effective solutions in very short periods of time.
  • Simultaneously manage multiple projects and tasks while effectively influencing, negotiating, and communicating with internal and external business partners, contractors and vendors.
  • Effective communication skills, ability to execute the vision, detailed roadmap, and specific technical solutions.
  • Travel Requirements : 50 - 70%
