About The Position

The Operations Engineer is charged with overseeing completion operations, including design, planning, budgeting, procurement, vendor selection, 24/7 on-call coordination with the field and performing post job analyses. The Operations Engineer is also an integral member of an Area Asset Team and works in a collaborative environment.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Petroleum Engineering, or related degree with oil and gas experience
  • 3-5+ years industry experience with 3+ years of operations or production engineering experience
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, WellView, Rodstar, Tibco Spotfire, PowerBI
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interface with company management and field personnel a must
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced setting, process work rapidly, set priorities, work under pressure, and follow through with assigned tasks with limited supervision
  • Willing to make frequent on-site field visits

Nice To Haves

  • Permian Basin and/or Delaware Basin field operations experience is a plus
  • Professional Engineer License a plus

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support to field operations staff during complex completion operations.
  • Perform in-depth analysis of costs and operations performance to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Initiate technical studies and trials, and make recommendations to improve well performance, reduce costs and overcome operational challenges.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance in concert with EHS personnel.
  • Explore additional technologies, both downhole and on surface, to increase operational efficiencies and lower costs.
  • Work closely with other team members / disciplines to determine optimal operational approaches for particular wells and/or fields.
  • Coordinate with all phases of drilling, facilities, midstream, and production operations throughout the life cycle of a well.
  • Interface with Land, Accounting, Geology, Regulatory, Engineering, and other departments to coordinate the daily operations of completing oil and gas wells.
  • Work closely with management to meet corporate goals.
  • Mentor less experienced engineers.
  • Proactively improve technical skills and stay up to date with new technology through training, attendance at industry meetings, and develop effective relationships both internal and external to the Matador organization.
  • Travel regularly to field for direct operations supervision and interaction with field personnel.
