About The Position
Amazon.com Services LLC is seeking an Operations Engineer III to join their team in Bellevue, WA. This role involves designing and implementing complex, high-volume fulfillment processes and systems for a large-scale supply chain network. The engineer will provide technical leadership for industrial engineering projects, work with material handling systems and equipment, and utilize process improvement methodologies like Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen. Responsibilities include leading design efforts with internal teams and vendors, managing capital projects, monitoring vendor schedules and quality, developing budgets and contract documents, and coordinating with local site management for training and compliance. Domestic travel up to 50% may be required.
Requirements
- Master's degree or foreign equivalent degree in Engineering or a related field and two years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
- Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Engineering or a related field and five years of progressive postbaccalaureate experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
- Two years of experience in managing the lifecycle of cross-functional projects
- Two years of experience in implementing automated equipment or integrated systems
- Two years of experience in using CAD software

Responsibilities
- Design and implement complex high-volume direct-to-consumer fulfillment processes, systems and facilities for capacity expansion and continuous improvement of worldwide fulfillment infrastructure throughout the large-scale supply chain network that increases critical-to-quality (CTQ) business needs by improving integration of people, materials, equipment, software, and finance
- Provide technical leadership for large-scale industrial engineering projects using MS Excel, AutoCad and MS Project
- Work with complex Material Handling Systems, packaging equipment and other processing gear to design safe and efficient fulfillment processes
- Use Process Improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma and/or Kaizen to analyze Fulfillment Center processes and equipment and recommend and implement improvements to safety procedures, work processes and labor standards
- Lead and coordinate design efforts between internal teams and outside vendors to develop optimal solutions for the network, including equipment specification, material flow, process design, and site layout
- Manage capital projects and create conceptual drawings, equipment specifications and bid documentation to facilitate a competitive bid environment
- Monitor and enforce project schedules and quality with vendors or subcontractors. Inspect facilities in accordance with corporate standards and procedures relating to material handling, processing and storage
- Develop and manage budget and contract documents including Requests for Proposals, change order controls, purchase orders and invoicing
- Coordinate with local site management to ensure proper operator training, procedural compliance, maintenance and safety practices are followed for new and existing equipment
- Domestic travel up to 50% to perform role responsibilities may be required
