If you said yes to any of these questions, we have the job for you. Overview of the Position People’s Action Institute is looking for a purposeful leader to fill our Operations Director role. The Operations Director is a thoughtful and collaborative driver of work focused on projects that span across teams and departments. The Operations Director must have a proven track record in people and project management. They must strive to improve efficiency and effectiveness while ensuring that the work aligns with the organization's overall mission, culture, and goals, and complies with federal and state laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • Strong commitment to racial, gender, and economic justice and their intersections, both inside and outside the organization.
  • Ability to work with diverse people and organizations
  • 10 years of operations experience in a nonprofit or movement organization. Movement experience is preferred.
  • 3+ years of management experience
  • Experience working in a multi-entity environment and compliance matters
  • Demonstrated and successful project management experience
  • Effective and strategic communications and analytical skills
  • Experience working with boards of directors
  • Strong attention to detail with an ability to synthesize and understand the big picture

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing and optimizing Salesforce or similar CRM platforms, ideally in a nonprofit or advocacy organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and customize reports and dashboards to inform decision-making.
  • Experience developing and implementing data protocols and maintaining data hygiene.
  • Proficiency with core workplace technologies such as Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, or similar platforms, including user and group management, permissions, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience providing technical support and training to non-technical users; ability to communicate complex information clearly and accessibly.

Responsibilities

  • Cross-Team Management & Coordination: Drive purposeful and effective meetings and communications to support clear actions, shared project work, and skill/relationship building in the service of ensuring a powerful and efficient organizational operation
  • Boards of Directors Development & Meeting Support Operationalize board development priorities and committee workflows by translating the Chief Administrative Officer-led strategy into effective systems and practices for national leadership staff. Support the board development of each board (C3, C4, and People’s Action Power) and manage and develop each board meeting's materials
  • Compliance, Agreement & Contract Administration Manage the lifecycle of independent contracts, MOUs, and other collaborative agreements for the organization Develop essential staff training programs to cultivate a shared understanding of IRS compliance matters. Work with the finance team to refine cross-entity processes to ensure IRS compliance.
  • Cross-Departmental Procedures and Workflows Develop, find, employ, and adjust systems to manage workflows across departments Create strong working relationships and alignment with finance teams, HR, and operational leads
  • Project & Team Management Effectively manage individual team members and projects that span across teams and departments Effectively manage the Operations Manager, Data & Tech Manager, and Events Manager
  • Other Duties as Assigned
