The Operations Director is responsible for the successful execution and operational performance of assigned projects while providing leadership, mentorship, and strategic direction to project teams. This role ensures projects are delivered safely, profitably, on schedule, and at the highest quality standards while advancing ANDRES' culture, operational excellence, and long-term client relationships. The Operations Director serves as a member of the Corporate Leadership Team and is responsible for developing people, improving processes, managing risk, and driving continuous improvement across the organization.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in construction, design, and/or development.
  • Proven project management experience.
  • Strong local market knowledge and industry relationships.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and client-facing skills.
  • Degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or related field; advanced credentials a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight for the successful delivery of assigned projects from preconstruction through final completion.
  • Ensure projects achieve established goals for safety, quality, schedule, profitability, and client satisfaction.
  • Lead project teams in identifying risks, solving problems, and making timely decisions throughout the project lifecycle.
  • In select cases the Operations Director may be responsible for managing an individual project.
  • Champion operational consistency by ensuring compliance with the ANDRES Project Operations Manual and company standards.
  • Ensure project team is taking ownership of VDC plan and plan is implemented on schedule.
  • Drive accountability across project teams through regular coaching, performance reviews, and operational oversight.
  • Develop and oversee Project Profit Plans during project pursuit and preconstruction.
  • Monitor financial performance throughout construction and proactively address risks impacting profitability.
  • Ensure project teams properly manage budgets, forecasts, allowances, contingencies, change orders, procurement, and cost controls.
  • Coordinate project progress reporting and report on project health to the Leadership Team monthly per the Project Executive / Operations Lead Month Checklist.
  • Lead project-specific risk identification and mitigation planning.
  • Ensure contract reviews and project execution align with corporate risk management policies.
  • Monitor ongoing compliance with contractual obligations and company risk management procedures.
  • Specifically ensure implementation of project specific or scope specific risk mitigation plans.
  • Resolve major project issues before they impact cost, schedule, or client relationships.
  • Lead project kickoff meetings to establish expectations, communication protocols, and project objectives.
  • Ensure Project-Specific Quality Control Plans are developed and implemented.
  • Validate that project schedules accurately reflect field progress, contractual milestones, and recovery plans when necessary.
  • Collaborate with the Scheduling Manager to maintain accurate schedules based on weekly work planning.
  • Regularly participate in project team meetings, Owner-Architect-Contractor meetings, and field reviews to ensure project health.
  • Mentor Project Managers, Superintendents, and field leadership in operational excellence, communication, accountability, and leadership development.
  • Foster an environment that promotes employee engagement, professional growth, and succession planning.
  • Assist with staffing, project assignments, and resource planning utilizing Buildr.
  • Promote collaboration between field and office teams to maximize project performance.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with owners, architects, consultants, and trade partners.
  • Support business development through networking, client engagement, and pursuit strategy.
  • Identify opportunities for repeat business and long-term client partnerships.
  • Represent ANDRES professionally within the construction industry and community.
  • Champion Lean Construction principles across all projects.
  • Promote Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) technologies to improve coordination, planning, and quality.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, consistency, and elimination of waste.
  • Capture and share best practices and lessons learned through the ANDRES Forum and other knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Participate in strategic planning and implementation of company initiatives.
  • Demonstrate an unwavering commitment to safety as the highest organizational priority.
  • Ensure all projects comply with company safety policies, site-specific safety plans, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Hold project leadership accountable for maintaining a culture of proactive safety and risk awareness.
  • Operations Directors report to the applicable Vice President Division Manager.
  • Operations Directors are members of the Corporate Leadership Team.
  • The Operations Director actively participates in company leadership, operational planning, and project oversight through participation in: Monthly ANDRES Leadership Team Meeting, Monthly Project Review Meeting, Monthly Project Manager / Superintendent Meeting, Monthly Division Business Review, Additional executive, client, or project meetings as required.
